December 2010
Hello Parents!
I just wanted to take a moment to let you know what is going on in December.
December 8th - Kindergarteners get rewarded for being caught doing something good! Any kindergartenter who has accumulated 3 gotcha tickets will get to participate in a pod movie! :)
December 6th - 10th - PTA gift store is open and ready for students to shop for gifts. The students can bring money from home to shop for their mom, dad, brothers or sisters, and even aunts and uncles or grandparents. This is a great way for them to pick out a gift for someone without spoiling the surprise!
December 14th - The Coosada Choir Performance will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
December 15th - Polar Express Day! The students will get their polar express tickets and enjoy watching the movie "Polar Express."
December 16th - Breakfast with Santa at 8:00 a.m.! The students usually enjoy milk and doughnuts and get to see Santa. You are welcome to join us and take pictures! :) This will also be the day that we will have our party in our classroom. Please let me know if you plan to bring any special Christmas cookies or goodies! :)
December 17th - (Half Day of School!) We will release early for the Christmas Holidays! See you all in January 2011!
I hope that everyone has a Wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!
Just a reminder! If you haven't sent in the school supplies for the second half of school, please send them when we return in January! We are very low on supplies such as glue sticks, germ x, clorox wipes, washable tempera paints, and construction paper.

Parent Report Night (September 7, 2010)
Parents,
The parent report night that is scheduled for September 7, 2010 is a very important night. Please keep your appointment unless it is absolutely impossible. If for some reason you are unable to come to your appointed time, please get with me on a day & time that you could meet with me otherwise. The information that I have to share with you is very important for your child's progression in kindergarten. Be sure to be a few minutes early because I will need you to come in promptly at your scheduled time.
Don't forget to send in a 3 ring binder for your child! Stick a note inside the folder in front of the discipline calendar that it's in the bookbag so I'll know to retrieve it. Thanks!
Also, please send in your $3 for journal orders. I would like for every student to have the same journal to practice our writing in together.
Thanks so much!

Need 1 inch Binders for Every Student
Parents,
Please send a 1 inch three ring binder for your child. I need the ones that have the clear cover on the front and back to insert papers into that can be seen through.
If you can send extras that would be awesome!
I would like to also say thank you to those parents who have been so supportive to our kindergarten class! Those of you who have sent extra items are truly awesome in so many ways!
If you can schedule some time to come and read to our class, that would be so nice. The students love it when parents come to read to them. If you would like to borrow a book from our classroom library or bring one from home, that would be fine. Simply stick a note in your child's folder that says you would like to read and let me know a couple of days that you would be free and I'll send a note back with a time for one of those days that you can come!
Please remember to keep all money sent in an envelope with your child's name on it, my name on it in the event that it falls out of their bookbag, what it's for, the amount enclosed, and stress to your child not to remove the baggy or envelope from the folder. It should be situated in front of the discipline calendar. I check the folders daily.
If you send something in your child's bookbag that you want me to see or get out, please stick a note in the folder in front of the discipline calendar letting me know that it's in their bookbag. I do not check their bookbags daily. I only check their folders daily.
Thanks!

August Reminder
Please remember to send money for your child's fieldtrip t-shirt if you haven't already. It's $6.00 and can be cash or check made payable to Coosada Elementary School.
I still do not have plastic supply boxes for every student to keep supplies at their desk. If anyone can send extras, that would be awesome! They are only $1 at most stores. Thanks in advance to anyone who may do this for our class! We need about 5 more.
Journals will be ordered for each student. The price for journals will be $3 each. Originally we were told that they would be $2 each. If you can send extra money for classroom journals, that would be great! Just label an envelope with money for journals. If you haven't paid for your journals, please do that soon!
I will begin enforcing the rules that have been introduced to the students this week. Please don't be upset if your child has a straight or a frowny face. I ask that you be supportive and speak with him or her about it and encourage your child to follow directions. If we are still seeing straight or frowny faces in the future, then we will have to set up a meeting to discuss what steps to take from that point.
Please don't hesitate to ask questions!
Thanks for your support parents. It's so important that we work together to make sure that your child has a successful kindergarten year! It's going great and I'm so excited to get this year started off! It's going to be a GREAT year!
:)
